Multipurpose room. Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Lleida
Who hasn’t wondered, while dancing to a techno session, “what must the artist on duty be really doing hidden behind the computer screen? Is he checking his email or filtering frequencies?”
Show us your screen is the phrase that the live coder collective Top Lap has coined to highlight the fact that, in live coding shows, the artist’s screen is projected into the view of the audience who observes —like someone who observes a guitarist doing a solo— the algorithms that the live coder is writing in real time.
It is, therefore, a digital craft show loaded with an enormous dose of honesty and transparency. A proposal with one foot in IDM and the other in glitch, in which improvisation and audio-reactive visuals play a fundamental role. All coded and written in a live artisanal way.
