The MULBERRY Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Lleida, joins the project “the Museum is Approaching” a program of artistic activities of the Apropa Cultura network in retirement homes.

Following the Covid-19 pandemic, we became more aware of the number of elderly people living in nursing homes and who have difficulty going out and enjoying cultural life. For this reason, in this project, museums move to nursing homes to organize artistic workshops.

The activities of El Museu s’Apropa generate dynamics to elevate mood, work on cognitive processes, increase interpersonal relationships and live the aesthetic experience to enjoy a healthy life and good mental health.

In the case of MORERA, the contemporary artist Marta Bisbal Torres will be in charge of mediating this activity. She will travel to the centers with an old chest of drawers full of objects, photographs and documents that will allow us to discover the life and work of the artist from Os de Balaguer Leandre Cristòfol.

The activity will facilitate conversation and user participation. The act of touching the materials and objects and Marta’s great capacity for mediation and empathy will help awaken memories and lived experiences.
