“Elles” itinerary

Dynamic visit + workshop

This itinerary proposes observing the different female representations present in the collection from a critical perspective. Based on the dialogue with the works, students will reflect on gender roles, stereotypes, the construction of identity, the invisibility of many artists throughout history and the different discourses that men and women have constructed about femininity.

The visit encourages debate and the exchange of ideas based on open questions that invite interpretation of the works from personal experience and the current context. The different dynamics allow for comparison of representations from different eras and analysis of how art contributes to both reproducing and questioning collective imaginaries.

The activity is adapted to different educational levels, adapting the language, concepts and examples. With younger students, aspects related to respect, diversity and equality are worked on, while with secondary, baccalaureate and vocational training, concepts such as the social construction of gender, the representation of the body, the artist’s gaze and the feminist perspective in the history of art are explored in depth.

This itinerary especially contributes to the development of civic competence , artistic and cultural competence and communicative competence, promoting critical thinking, respect for diversity and the ability to argue one’s own opinions based on works of art.

Curricularly, it establishes links with Artistic Education, Visual and Plastic Education, Social Sciences, History, Philosophy, Culture and Values ​​and Languages, favoring an interdisciplinary approach to the concepts of identity, equality and representation.

The proposal contributes especially to SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) and SDG 4 (Quality Education), promoting education based on human rights, equal opportunities and the development of critical thinking.

“Elles + artistic workshop”

This itinerary can be reinforced with an artistic workshop.

After the visit, students will experiment with pigments made from species and other natural elements, discovering how materials are also part of artistic language. Each participant will prepare their own pigments and apply them to the representation of a body without gender attributes, conceived as a space open to reflection and the construction of new identities. Finally, the composition will be completed by stamping words and concepts that emerged during the itinerary —such as equality, diversity, stereotypes, identity or freedom—, turning the creative process into a visual synthesis of shared learning. The workshop encourages artistic expression, critical thinking and dialogue on gender equality from a creative and participatory perspective.
