The Government delegate in Lleida, Bernat Solé, visits the Jaume Morera Art Museum

The Councilor for City and Culture of Lleida City Council, Jaume Rutllant, and the director of the Jaume Morera Art Museum, Jesús Navarro, received this afternoon the visit of the delegate of the Government of the Generalitat in Lleida, Bernat Solé, and from the director of Territorial Services of Culture in Lleida, Albert Turull.

During the meeting, they visited the Museum’s current facilities, in the Casino building, where they appreciated part of the Museum’s collection through the General Inventory exhibition, as well as the Plastics and Poetry exhibition. Cristòfol-Viladot and Nou plast poems, under the guidance of its two curators, the director of the Museum, Jesús Navarro, and the director of Lo Pardal – Guillem Viladot Private Foundation, Pau Minguet.

El Morera looks towards 2023

The changing situation that the Museum is experiencing as a result of the new museum project, which will be located in the old Audiència building, was one of the aspects that were discussed during the visit. It has also been pointed out that, despite the exceptional situation experienced in the last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the construction process of the equipment that will house the new museum of modern art and contemporary of the Western Lands has not stopped.

The director of the Museum, Jesús Navarro, has made clear the progress of the works on the new equipment, which will already be available during 2022, in compliance with the deadlines of the different sources of funding and the work of creating content and programs by of the technical team.

Navarro recalled that this process is a unique opportunity to rethink the mission and objectives of the Museum, which wants to become a powerful focus of cultural attraction and a central element in the dissemination and external projection of the city of Lleida from 2023 , when it will be inaugurated. A projection reinforced by an ambitious heritage, artistic and exhibition program, which must make the Museum one of the references, national and state, of the centers linked to modern and contemporary art.
