The Jaume Morera Art Museum in Lleida has recently seen its collection increased thanks to the deposits of works by the Generalitat de Catalunya corresponding to the latest purchases of the National Photography Plan and the Visual Arts Comprehensive Plan .
One of the sources of income for the Museum’s collections is that which houses the deposits of works of individuals and institutions of great relevance for the stories and heritage content. In recent years, the Museum has formulated acquisition proposals, or participated in them, as part of the calls for proposals arising from the implementation of the National Plan for Photography and the Integral Plan for the Visual Arts to enrich the national collections .
The Museum’s contribution has been to ensure the presence and inclusion of relevant artists from the West in the two national collections in order to enrich them patrimonially, provide them with a plural vision and expand the creation contemporary in Catalonia. At the same time, thanks to the Generalitat’s commitment to the country’s museums, all these acquisitions deposited in cultural facilities, among which there is the Jaume Morera Art Museum, help to form and complete the respective collections.
Thus, in the photographic field , six acquisitions by authors linked to the lands of Lleida and from purchases made in the last three years (2019-2021) are presented. This set is made up of photographs by Palmira Puig, Toni Prim, Jordi V. Pou, Santi Iglesias, Espe Pons and Paula Artés.
In the area linked to contemporary art, the acquisitions corresponding to the National Collection of Contemporary Art that have been deposited in our Museum since 2018 are presented. These are 39 works by Lluís Trepat, Albert Coma Estadella, Àngel Jové, Carles Hac Mor, Antoni Abad and Albert Bayona; Olga Olivera-Tabeni, Martín Llavaneras, Pol Merchan, Joan Pallé and Antoni Pinent; Nora Ancarola, Carles Pujol, Mar Arza, David Bestué, Enric Farrés Duran, Núria Güell, Pere Llobera, Marina Núñez and Rubén Verdú .
A very relevant set of contemporary creation in our country and which will become part of the collections of the new museum of modern and contemporary art in Lleida.
