Presentation by Aureli Barrull with the assistance of the author

Manuel Baixauli , one of the most unique authors of our lyrics, offers us a unique literary voice and a demonstration of first-rate narrative ability.

What can be done in the face of a bad step, if all attempts to overcome it fail? How far can despair be a stimulus for the imagination? Alapont, a humble carpenter and perfectionist, watches with concern the drift of his son, Aristides, who has just entered adolescence and has been conquered by apathy.

Lucid and intimate, Horse, athlete, bird addresses the complexity of paternal-filial relationships, while showing what a father is capable of doing to save what is most loved in the world.

Manuel Baixauli

Manuel Baixauli is a painter and writer. His first book, Spiral (City of Badalona Award 1998), is a collection of short, intense stories about transience and oblivion. It is followed by the novel Verso (Ciutat d’Alzira Award 2001), a reflection on art and false appearances. But it is with L’home manuscrit (Premi Mallorca de Narrativa 2006), a radical, imaginative book, in which it addresses the ability of writing to transform life and people, that Baixauli received an excellent reception from critics , with six published book awards. In 2010 he completed a new edition of Espiral , rewritten and cleaned up, and in 2014 he published La cinquena planta , a novel that received the Valencian Writers Critic Award and the Crexells de Narrativa Catalana. A Ningú no ens espera (2016), offers a collection of articles with the air of a diary, accompanied by drawings made by the author himself. In 2020 he publishes Ignot , a novel that receives the Llibreter Prize for the best book of Catalan literature.
