Jordi Mestre donates to the City Archive two unpublished films by an unknown author. These are part of the Agustí Mestre collection and will allow us to delve into Lleida in the thirties and forties and get closer to the daily life of the people of Lleida. Through the images recorded by the Pathé-baby camera we will be able to perceive customs, manners and events of a city that is transforming and in which we will realize the changes it will undergo between the Civil War and the first post-war years .

Taking advantage of the fact that October 27th is World Audiovisual Heritage Day and that from the Archives we aim to raise awareness of the importance of preserving all the film heritage that we conserve, we have organized an event in which we will talk about amateur cinema, how this art began at the beginning of the 20th century, and the films that we conserve in the Municipal Archives. We will take advantage of the recent donation that Jordi Mestre has made to the City Archives of two previously unpublished and never seen films from Lleida from the 30s and 40s.

Mestre acquires the films by purchase and donates them to the Municipal Archives so that they can be preserved and become part of the city’s documentary collection, thus preserving memory and our history.

The event will feature:

Oriol Bosch , technician at MORERA. Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Lleida and specialist in cinema.

Jordi Mestre , as a donor

Iolanda Enjuanes , head of the Municipal Archives of Lleida.
