The works on the new Morera Museum are resumed with intensity
The rehabilitation and adaptation works of the former Provincial Court building as the new headquarters of the Lleida Art Museum have resumed with intensity this November.
Due to various administrative problems, to which were added the consequences of the shutdown due to the pandemic, the works have been delayed by a year. During this time, the Paeria architecture team has developed a modification of the project which, among other things, has allowed the archaeological finds to be integrated into it. Last week, a site visit was made to the building to show the project in situ to different cultural and neighborhood associations in the neighborhood that will host the Museum. It is expected that, within two and a half years, the works will be finished and the Museum will finally be able to open its doors in its own building.
In the coming months – which will be marked by the uncertainties arising from the health crisis -, the Museum will prepare to face challenges of great relevance for its future. The works on the new headquarters have been reactivated with intensity, so that the commitments made to the various public administrations that finance the equipment can be fulfilled. This project must be one of the key elements of our city’s culture in the coming years, and that is why the entire Museum team is focused on preparing it, providing the necessary tools to prepare the stories of the collection and to design the operation of the services and the participation formulas.
